I am participating in Linda Hill’s writing prompt called Stream of consciousness Saturday and the prompt this week is “the word I hate”. To know more about the prompt click on the link https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/24840312/posts/3449818559
Frankly I didn’t have a word that I hated but this prompt made me think about it and one word that instantly came to my mind was “fuck” but again I realised I really don’t hate this word but at the same time I am not for using it also. cAfter thinking for some more time the word that came to my mind was “nationalist”
They have become a nuisance in India. I am pretty sure everywhere in the world it is pretty much the same. The right wingers normally calls themselves nationalist and start fighting at the drop of the hat claiming they love their nation the most. Now what is the measure to quantify the love for nation? Generally and foolishly the political party you chose to vote for. It makes a person who doesn’t vote for that party a traitor. How mature is that?
I also love my nation and fulfilling all my duties as a law abiding citizen. I have chosen to stay in this country despite having opportunities to live abroad. I love my culture and teach my daughter all lovely things about India. I have many nationalist friends around me and believe me I am more real in my love for nation then many of them put together.
So “Nationalists” get real about your idea of love for your nation and find another title that proclaims your political ideologies. Don’t confuse your political ideologies with love for nation.

True 😊
